Come and make it happen with us! This is an experiment in “Make Your Own Festival” and we would like you to come and stir the pot with us. We are inviting all the willing and able who love making stuff happen, who are addicted to beauty (of all kinds), who don’t need cell phone reception, who love to collaborate and celebrate and play and learn together to join us in making RESTFEST 2017 an annual event.

We eat together once a day and we all contribute to making the wheel turn. Day trippers are invited too and can contribute an entrance fee according to their means. RECONNECT TO YOUR CREATIVITY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

PROFESSSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP (12 CPD POINTS)

This workshop will support participants to reconnect with a powerful resource that will enrich their personal and professional life: their creativity. We will challenge the belief that you have to be a artistic genius before you are allowed to tap into your creativity. Participants will have the opportunity to discover the part of themselves that CAN be creative and explore personal expression in a critic-free zone.

The aim of the workshop is to support participants to discover the rich resource of their own creativity, which will enable them, in turn, to support and encourage the creativity of those they work with. The workshop will reveal what becomes possible when people are encouraged to be creative together.

The workshop takes place in the pristine environment of the Sneeuberg Mountains where participants can integrate and reflect on what they have learned as well as observe the innate creativity of nature, of which they are also a part.

Anyone who works with people: older adults, adults, youth and children. For example:

  • Carers and parents
  • Child and youth care workers
  • Human Resources Personnel / Managers
  • School teachers (high, primary and pre-primary)
  • Social Workers

Karkou and Sanderson (2005) define creativity as “the capacity to find new and unexpected connections, new relationships and therefore new meanings” (p. 53). The focus of creativity in this workshop is not on the ability to create an artistic product, but rather on the process of creating or doing something new.

RECONNECT TO THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE YOUR WORLD

As we become more grounded and better able to connect to our own needs and limits, so we are better able to connect and be present with those around us. Relationships with our partners, families and communities can bring joy and lightness to life instead of stress and heartache. Using creative techniques, we will explore what stops us from being able to love and to be loved fully and deeply. Here we will explore our place within the web of people that make meaning in our lives, and learn how we can be part of enriching that web. We also bring awareness to our interdependence with humans, animals and our planet.

LIFE WRITING WITH DAWN GARISCH

Life writing is not only about developing technical skills. It is also a way to reflect and grow awareness. The tools we need to write about what we imagine we know best – our memories and desires – are also tools we need to live more creatively, less anxiously. If you are writing fiction or poetry, life writing skills help to deepen observation.

Imagination is an extraordinary tool. Over three days at this beautiful residential retreat we will reclaim imagination as a means to release ourselves into awe and creativity, connectedness and purpose, awareness and pleasure. Through identifying and engaging with the images that shape our time on earth, we will find refreshing approaches to put our personal stories down on the page.

Beginner writers are welcome.

BEING HERE; NOW - FAMILY CONSTELLATIONS WITH TANJA MEYBURGH

FINDING BELONGING THROUGH FAMILY SYSTEMS CONSTELLATIONS

You are not alone. You are deeply connected either consciously or unconsciously to your family, your ancestors and to nature. You are here now as a result of the loves, losses and longings of thousands of ancestors. You are here now as a result of the survival force of life itself to go on. Often despite our best intentions we are stuck in perpetuating patterns of the past, in playing out roles that we don’t want, and struggling to shift things despite the work that we do.

This gathering at a beautiful farm near Nieu Bethesda is for all of us. Because in this longing, to belong and be in relationship, we are all the same.

Using Family, Systems and Nature Constellation as well as creative process and the natural surroundings of the Karoo, we will explore what it means to belong, to connect to the land, to find our ancestral gifts, and enter into deeper relationships with ourselves and others. We will find a new way of belonging that sets us free to be present to what is happening in the world, right here, right now.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS SAID

“This course helped me to break through the block created by my own diffidence and reluctance, enabling me to find and become confident in the thread I must pursue in order to be true to myself. Dawn created an atmosphere of trust in which the participants felt free to go as far as they wished on this journey into memory and onto the page. The structure of the course was well thought out and effective, both day by day and as a whole. An unusual, highly effective and striking aspect of Dawn’s facilitative work is her insistence that writing, memory and creativity are not simply to be found in the ‘head’, but are lodged in and distributed through the ‘memory’ to be discovered in the body itself. The course was enlightening, stimulating, moving and fun.” - John Cartwright
